Many women avoid weight lifting and training routines for quite a few different reasons. While most women tend to avoid weight training, it’s actually good for you especially if you are wanting to tone up, get thin, and lose fat.
The big reason to weight train is because muscle burns fat. The more muscle you have on your body, the more fat that you will passively burn during the day. If you are trying to lose weight by eating less calories, this extra muscle will burn the extra calories and help you lose weight.
While this might sound good, most women would rather not bulk up and have too much muscle. This is a huge fear that many women have because they would rather look thin than bulky. The reality is that adding muscle to your body is not as easy as it sounds. Even men who have testosterone take quite awhile to actually add enough muscle to start getting bigger. Women should not worry about this as it takes hours of lifting per week to significantly add muscle to your body.
Weight training is good for the bones and joints. Many women later in life have more problems with bone and joint health than men. When safely lifting weights and adding strength, women can have stronger bones later on in life when it’s actually needed.
Having a weight lifting routine will help you look more toned versus saggy. If you lose a significant amount of weight, most without any weight training will still look saggy. If you have done some weight lifting, you will get a more toned look which will help you look thinner since the muscles will hold any fat that is still there in place much better.
Take the fear out of becoming a bulky woman and realize that weight training helps you get the fitness goals that you are looking for.
